I used this book in an Introducion to Solid State Physics course, and although I found subjects were well-described and complete, the text was hard to comprehense and quite poorly written. My professor explained that there are few books that teach Solid State Physics on this level, and that of those books this one may be the best there is.3/5(8). Solid State Physics by Professor Leo Radzihovsky. This note covers the following topics: Elasticity, fluctuations and thermodynamics of crystals, thermodynamics of phonons, Hohenberg-Mermin-Wagner theorem, Ginzburg-Landau theory and Landau's quantum hydrodynamics, Bosonic matter, Magnetism in charge insulators, Jordan-Wigner transformation and XXZ . Kittel is an excellent solid-state physics book which can be used at various levels. A basic understanding can be gained by dipping into parts of the book and a very thorough understanding can be gained from reading the whole text. The examples and questions are also very helpful. Overall, by:   Asked to answer, so I’ll jump in here. Kittel is probably the most popular out there. I don’t like it as much, though, because in my opinion Kittel’s style is a bit terse in that he doesn’t provide as much detail into deriving the equations as I’d.

Solid State Physics. This note covers the following topics: Ionic Solids, Other crystal structures, Metallic Bonding, Electric Current, Mean Free Path, Free Electron Gas in Metals, Three-Dimensional Electron Gas, Quantum Theory of Conduction, Magnetism in Solids, Ferromagnetism, Impurity Semiconductors, Solid-State Lighting, Superconductivity and .   Tags: rk puri solid state pdf, solid state physics and electronics by puri and babbar pdf, solid state physics and electronics by puri and babbar pdf download, solid state physics books puri babbar pdf, solid state physics by gupta kumar free download, solid state physics by gupta kumar sharma pdf, solid state physics by wahab pdf, solid state physics so pillai pdf . The book uses lecture style in explaining the concepts which would facilitate easy understanding of the concepts. The topics have been dealt with precision and provide adequate knowledge of the subject. Solid-state physics is the study of rigid matter, or solids, through methods such as quantum mechanics, crystallography, electromagnetism, and is the largest branch of condensed matter -state physics studies how the large-scale properties of solid materials result from their atomic-scale , solid-state physics forms a theoretical .
